Psalms 27:1

I have a problem with bees. Whether they're stingless and 2.1 mm long, or giant, leaf-cuttingbeasts, or even the "cute" little honey bees that everyone knows in North America--they are all bees to me and no matter what, you can always count on me screaming and running to the nearest enclosed shelter.

I have tried to overcome my fear. Really, I have! But there seems to be no hope in this world for me. So I just do what I do best--run away.

Today I was mowing the lawn, proud that I was able to start the thing by myself, and eyes peeled for any innocent, 1-inch toads that were likely to jump out in any direction (we have a lot of them). And when I finally turned the corner to face my least favorite part of the yard, there the bees were, waiting for me. (Well, they weren't exactly waiting for me, they were more hanging around the Yellow Jacket Motel contemplating whether or not they should give in to peer pressure and fly through the one-way-entrance of DOOM! Okay, I'm really getting too excited about this 'Kill the Bees' thing... Anyway, you get the picture.)

So there they were, waiting, and you know what I did? You guessed it. I ran inside as fast as I could. But then I thought, "Hey there Alex! You still have the last part of the lawn to mow. Go back out there and finish." So I did. I was scared to pieces, but I went. The whole time watching the Motel and the bees and chanting in my head 'The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? Psalms 27:1'. You can bet that I ran in a few more times. But I finished the yard.

And all thanks to my favorite verse: Psalms 27:1.

Sometimes, it's obvious when God is with you. And today he definitely was. No doubt about it.
